Trenchless Boring Equipment

Improve efficiency with the AXIS guided boring system.

Guided Boring System | Vermeer Equipment

Being able to install or replace water and sewer lines precisely on-grade is a must these days. This work is often viewed to be tedious, labor-intensive, and expensive using traditional installation methods. Some of the current trenchless methods are designed to achieve the extreme accuracy necessary for this kind of work; however, they lack the productivity needed to compete with the open-cut method.

Vermeer has a new tool to aid contractors in the effort to replace and expand sewer and water infrastructure. The Vermeer AXIS guided boring system is a pit-launched trenchless installation method designed to achieve pinpoint, on-grade accuracy while eliminating some of the difficult steps associated with other installation techniques. A wide range of product pipe, sizing specifications, and other jobsite requirements can be met with the versatile capabilities of the AXIS system.

The AXIS guided boring system is designed to install 10 to 14 inch (25.4 to 35.6 cm) pipe at lengths up to 350 feet/106.7 m, ideal for manhole-to-manhole installations. The system is capable of maintaining the strict tolerance and accuracy required for sewer and water projects.

This combination gives on-grade accuracy and high efficiency your customers demand while minimizing restoration and installation costs.

  • Installing gravity sewer in tough Georgia rock

It took a contractor who was receptive to an innovative new installation approach, a good deal of patience and a whole lot of determination — after two previous attempts by other contractors using drills and air hammers were unsuccessful — to finally conquer a pesky 800-foot (243.8 m) stretch of tough Georgia blue granite. Hence, project owner Coweta County Water and Sewer Authority put their faith in DeKalb Pipeline Company to emerge victorious.

  • AXIS guided boring system designed for precise on-grade installations

The AXIS GB812 guided boring system from Vermeer features a laser guided system that provides pinpoint accuracy in the trenchless installation of 10- to 14- inch (25.4 to 35.6 cm) pipe for on-grade water and sewer projects. The pitlaunched system has the ability to install up to 350 feet (106.7 m) of both rigid constructed, as well as fusible and restrained joint product pipe. This versatility offers more product pipe options based on costs, traditional preference and matching with existing infrastructure. Spoil is removed from the cutter head via a vacuum excavation system, eliminating the need to manually handle it within the pit. A flexible, modular design allows the system to be configured in a number of ways for jobsite footprint and transport considerations.
